Saboteurs

Monster Suggestions - By Episode

To start off we'll give a quick episode by episode breakdown of some good saboteurs that you should recruit to best make it through .

  • Episode 2 - None: You really don't need a saboteur until after this Episode so there is no reason to hunt one. The only Saboteur available, the Dendrobium, can be extremely dangerous for a typical party at this point in the game.
  • Episode 3.1 - Chelicerata & Necrosis: You'll find Chelicerata in Oerba 200AF. It has potential to be a great Saboteur but keep in mind that it is a very late bloomer. You'll find it is much cheaper to progress your Dendrobium. However, the Chelicerata can be a good investment down the road. You'll also encounter Necrosis in Yaschas Massif 01X AF. It is potentially the best Saboteur in the game but, even more so than the Chelicerata, it is a VERY Late Bloomer and is extremely expensive to develop.
  • Episode 3.2 - Viking & Samovira: The Viking is an Early Peaker found in Vile Peaks 200AF. It is possible to get there using the Grave Ridge gate in the Archylte Steppe. However, first you must defeat the three Gigantuars, which is not an easy feat. It can be useful to have access to the few ailments Serah and Noel don't possess (Fog, Pain II, and Curse II), but it's really not necessary until you get further into the game. Also available once you get to the Archylte Steppe, is the Samovira. It is found in Cloudy weather in Grave Ridge. Though it doesn't develop as many abilities as other recommended Saboteurs and doesn't learn Improved Debuffing, its Feral Link, Disastrous Dance, inflicts Imperil, Slow, and Pain. It is also a MUCH more cost effective Saboteur than any other recommended Saboteur (except the Viking).
  • Episode 4 & 5 - Pick One: At this point you will have encountered almost all recommended Saboteurs so you have a few to choose from. You might want to choose a long-term investment or you can wait until after Episode 5 to get the Black Chocobo.
  • Final Episode - Black Chocobo: The last major Saboteur available in the game is the Black Chocobo. It is available in the Vile Peaks 010AF which is accessed through the Wild Artefact Gate in A Dying World. It is on par with Chelicerata and Necrosis in potential as well as having the Improved Debuffing passive.
  • Post-Game - Pick One: For the long-term you should choose from Chelicerata, Necrosis, or the Black Chocobo. All three are Late Bloomers but Necrosis is the most expensive of the three. All are good options.
  • Side Note - Nabaat : In addition to the monsters available in the main game, if you choose to pick up some of the DLC you should definitely consider the Nabaat fight. She is by far the best Saboteur available and well worth the effort.

Monster List

This table gives you a breakdown of every monster saboteur in the game. Note that this table is a work in progress and abilities will be filled in as soon as we're able. In addition to rough stats (assuming you use all Potent materials) we'll also tell you what grade of materials caps a monsters growth. We've also included sections for all the passive and active abilities that each monster can acquire. Any red abilities are locked abilities and cannot be passed on through infusion.
