It turns out the ending of FFXIII was simply the beginning of something much deeper. Immediately after the ending events of FFXIII Lightning falls into time and events spiral, unravelling the beliefs and memories of those involved. Only Serah, Lightning's sister, remembers. After disturbing dreams of her sister confuse Serah and make her doubt her own memories, a random stranger appears. This stranger, a man named Noel, claims to have knowledge of Lightning and Serah joins him on a quest through time itself to solve the strange paradoxes which sprang up with the passing of all memory of Lightning.
