Ice Cavern

In the ice cavern you’ll want to beware the wind swirling around certain areas. If you touch them you’ll be taken into battle instantly. The areas will clear momentarily if you wait for them. You can avoid excessive battling this way.

In the first area climb up to the little platform on the left and then jump down for a tent. Now proceed through to the next area.

Here, up to the path to your right you’ll notice an icy spot on the wall. Examine it and Zidane will ask Vivi to cast Fire on it. Open the chest inside for an Ether. To get the chest down on the left go along the left and up the smooth path in the upper right part of the screen. Follow it around behind the center area and down to get a Potion. Continue on to the next area.

Go up the path to the right and cross over to the chest for another Potion. Go back across and examine the ledge to have Vivi move the bridge. Now go down for a Mage Masher (weapon upgrade for Zidane). At the upper left area have Vivi melt the ice to get an Elixer from the hidden chest. Go ahead to the next area.

Up the little path to the right is a Phoenix Down. Go up on the left and have Vivi open the pathway. Go down to get a Leather Wrist (may I suggest you equip it on Zidane?). Then proceed to the next area.

Here you’ll want to take the path to the left. Here you’ll find a frozen moogle. Have Vivi defrost him. After the Mogster lesson speak to Mois the moogle. He’ll have a letter to Gumo for you. You should save and also use a tent. Make sure Zidane has the best equipment possible on then to go down and take the path to the right.

When Zidane wakes up follow the sound of the bell to the top of the screen.

Stealing the items from these guys is quite easy but if you want to go for the equipment you’ll have a much harder time. Make sure you have lots of potions to burn. Also, they will hit you hard enough to put Zidane into a trance but if you want to steal everything I recommend letting the trance go, rather than using it. They’ll hit you enough while you’re stealing that you can get your trance a second time. I’d recommend not letting your HP go lower than 150. You’ll need to alternate stealing with potions. When you do decide to use your trance you can get rid of the Waltz and at least half the Sealion’s life with Tidal Flame. Beware because the Sealion will counterattack with a massive attack that causes about 100-150 damage. Use the rest of your trance to finish off the Sealion.

After you’re back with the main group head to the top of the cavern. Next you’ll want to head for the village of Dali.
