Burmecia

Now back with Zidane head directly North and you’ll find Burmecia. In this first area search behind the fallen cart to find the Cancer Stellazio. Then head to the back and the next area. Move forward and you’ll have another encounter with Zorn and Thorn and their Black Mages.

Now head up the stairs to your right and go in the door. Search behind the stairs in this area to find a Soft. Then go upstairs. The treasure chest on the left part of this balcony is actually a Mimic monster. You can avoid it or defeat it for an Ether and 133 EXP. When you’re ready go through the door on the left of the balcony.

Go through the open area with the door. You can’t do anything here yet. In this next area you’ll see a treasure chest on the left. To get it you’ll need to WALK across the balcony. Inside the chest you’ll find Germinas Boots. As you cross back the balcony will fall bridging a gap below.

Now go back to where you fought the Black Mages. Go to the door on your left. On the main floor the chest to the right contains a soft. The one on the left has a potion. Now go upstairs. The chest on this level is another Mimic.

There’s nothing in this next area so move through it and go out to the balcony. Zidane will hop across to the next room. Talk to the dying soldier on the right and search for the bell he mentioned behind the bed. Also, you can find an Ether behind the shelves to the left. Now go back to the open area on the upper level and use the bell on the door here.

After the scene with Dan move on to the next area. Go in the bottom door here. Zidane will rescue a Burmecian couple. Back outside go up the stairs on the right and cross to the left door. These two chests on the right contain a Phoenix Down and a Tent. Around the balcony and to the right is another Mimic chest. When you’re ready move on. Enter the door to the left here. In here Freya will find a Mythril Spear. Make sure to equip it. Now enter the door to the right. At the back of this room you’ll find a Lightning Staff for Vivi. You’ll also catch up with Stiltzkin. He’ll have a Soft, Hi Potion, & Ether to sell to you. You can save with Atla the moogle here. You should have a letter from Mogki for him. You’ll get a Kupo Nut from him and he’ll have a letter for Monev he’d like you to deliver. Also, don’t forget to check out the Mogshop for upgrades.

When you feel you’re ready to take on the upcoming boss battle head towards the castle. When Freya sees the state of the castle choose to leave her alone. She’ll decide to take on whoever’s in the palace and Zidane follows her. During the ensuing scene you’ll catch a glimpse of our villain and get drawn into a battle with the Alexandrian General Beatrix.

If you have Zidane’s Bandit ability equipped you stand a chance of getting some items from Beatrix. However, there’s a time limit on this battle. The trick is staying alive until Beatrix performs Stock Break which takes everyone’s HP to 1 and ends the battle. The best way to do this is have Freya cast Reis’s Wind right away. Then use Quina’s Mighty guard if you have it. You can try and have Vivi cast Slow, this sometimes works. You’ll want to make Zidane steal every round. Vivi can use his second level spells on Beatrix.
