Daguerreo

Items: Capricorn Stellazio, Rank S Award, 2 Elixirs, ? Aquamarine, Cards: Flare or Meteor.

There is an island to the south of the Forgotten Continent that’s home to some excellent synth and item shops. Upon entering go right. Along the closer branch of the path you’ll find the Capricorn Stellazio. Then continue going right.

Go up the lift here. Noggy the moogle is at the right. The Synthesist is at the desk. Talk to the Four-Armed Man to learn what your treasure hunting rank is. If he gets scared when you talk to him and runs out the entrance follow him. He will award you with the Rank S Award. When you’re done here go left.

Here you’ll find an Engineer on the right and two people by a desk just to the left. These two are in the middle of an argument. If you agree with the young man every time he will give you a Flare Card. Or, if you agree with the sales clerk she’ll give you a Meteor Card. You can only get one of the cards. The sales clerk runs an item shop.

To the left of the arguing pair you’ll find a strange shape set in the wall. If you push it down it will open up a new area. To get there head the far left of the area. There’s a man at a desk that will let you rest for 100 gil. Also, there’s an old man who will give you Steiner’s Excalibur if you give him the Magical Fingertip, which can be purchased at the auction in Treno. Here you’ll also find a scholar who’s looking for a particular book. Run back to the right and examine the stack of books here to locate the book. Then go tell the scholar where it is. He’ll move, letting you go back behind the bookshelves. Go as far as you can and then choose to go down. This is the new area you opened up.

On this midlevel you’ll find two Elixirs, one on the far end of either side. Also, if you talk to the scholar on the left and you have the Namingway card in your stock he will be “inspired” to rename one of your characters. You can do this as many time as you like. When you’re ready to go back upstairs go to the middle and go back up.

Now go through the door to the left of the button you pushed to open the mid-level. In here you’ll find the weaponsmith. However, you’ll need to repair the lift before he can sell anything to you. Go back to the entrance. Here talk to the Adventurer and then examine the back wall. You’ll have the option to place some ore here. For every 5 ore you place you’ll receive an Aquamarine. Now go left all the way to the next area.

Here you’ll find the broken lift. To repair it you first need to use the left lever on the wall to lower the bottom lift to floor level. Now go examine the wall exposed by the lower lift. Go grab the pole leaning against the bookshelf to put it into the hole. Now you can use the right lever to bring the top lift to floor level. Have Zidane get on it and ride to the top. Speak the weaponsmith and you’ll be able to access his inventory.
