Bresha Ruins - 005AF

Side Notes

The most notable side item in this location is getting access to the south tunnels. To open the gate you must acquire the Moogle Throw ability in the Sunleth Waterscape 300AF using the Reunion Artefact found all the way to the west of the Lamentable Rest area after beating Atlas. The gate is in the west tunnels. If you have struggled in the Atlas battle and have a weaker party this location will be impossible to survive. Before you can get the Moogle Throw ability you must defeat an incredibly difficult boss. If you've done a decent amount of leveling up and are comfortable defeating all but the new enemies unlocked by defeating Atlas (Albino Lobo and Svarog and Amanojaku/Notsugo) it is possible to defeat it and get the ability. You're looking at a prolonged battle (up to 20 minutes in a worst-case scenario) and you'll probably have to use some Wound Potions. If you think you're up to it then unlock the gate and go get the ability (only a little further into the location than the boss).

Once you've got Moogle Throw you must toss Mog into the center of the excavation site at a treasure sphere beyond the lower section of gate. You'll get the Holding Cell Key which allows you to open the gate. In this area you'll gain access to some treasure spheres (one of which is the Butterfly Bow for Serah - a great weapon at this point), the completion of Vita Lyrica quest, and the gate to Bresha Ruins 300AF (which we recommend you wait until much later to open).

Also of note, you can hunt the new rare enemies unlocked by defeating Atlas. The Svarog is an excellent Comando replacement for the Urdimmu and the Albino Lobo is by far the best Ravager you will encounter for quite some time. However, they are both quite rare, especially the Albino Lobo. It appears once every 10 battles or so and is hard to catch. Save up your Feral Links for these battles. Strangely, we've encountered different outcomes in the quests to catch these two monsters. In one playthrough catching the Svarog was much easier than getting the Albino Lobo and in the other playthrough it was the opposite. It may take A LOT of patience to acquire these monsters. Note that these monsters can also be encountered in the exterior of Echoes of the Past. The Albino Lobo only appears in the open area by Chocolina and the Yaschas Massif gate. You'll find that the Lobo appears here more frequently and the Svarog appears in the south tunnels more frequently.

Most of the treasure spheres in this location are at dead ends in the tunnels - make sure to check all of them to make sure to get them all. Note that there are three Moogle Hunt spheres. The first is a Librascope at the base of the stairs in the excavation site. The second, a Rune Bracelet, is found in the very southwest of the western tunnels. The last is a Star Pendant at the bend right before fighting the Ghast in the northwest.
