Cleyra

Tree Trunk

Items: Phoenix Down, Magician Shoes, Ice Staff, Ether, Needle Fork, Kupo Nut, Flame Staff, Desert Boots, Mythril Vest, Mythril Gloves, Remedy, Potion, Elixir, Hi-Potion.

Upon entering the Cleyra sandstorm you’ll need to head up to the base of the tree. When you get to the screen with the door go up to the right and pull the lever to unlock the door.

In this next screen open the chest for a Phoenix Down. Now move up to the next screen.

This large sandy area has several items. Search at the bottom of the screen for Magician Shoes. Near the top of the screen is an Ice Staff. Now exit through the door to the right.

Climb up the slop on the right in this area and go through the opening on the left. Grab the Ether from the treasure chest here. Now have Zidane put his hand into the hole at the bottom right. This will flood the room from two screens ago. Head back to the bottom of the last screen.

Climb up the ropes and enter the flooded room. Cross to enter a new area. Here get the treasure chest for a Needle Fork and climb up to visit Monev the moogle. You should have a letter for Monev from Atla. Monev should also give you a Kupo Nut for the delivery. Get the chest to the right for a tent. Now climb up to the next area.

The left path here leads to a chest with a Flame Staff. Then take the stairs on the right to proceed to the next area. Cross the wooden bridge here to enter a new area full of caves.

Behind the tree trunk pillar closest is a chest with Desert Boots. Back in the little cave behind the pillar with pouring sand is a Mythril Vest. Now enter the cave to the immediate right of the small cave.

Get the chest on the path for Mythril Gloves. Continue up the path until you get to a pulley system. Pull the lever to stop the flow of sand on the path above. Now go back to the cavern.

Come closer to the foreground and go up to the right to get the chest with a Remedy. The “exit” above the chest is a false one that takes you back to the middle of the cavern. Now go out the far left cave.

Get the chest on the path for a Potion. Now take the path to the right and get an Elixer from the chest. Go back and take the left path.

This next area features several swirling sinkholes. If you don’t mind fighting a few battles simply walk into the holes and let yourself get pulled in. You’ll have to fight one or two Sand Scorpions and then you’ll be tossed out on the other side of the hole. You can also carefully navigate around the holes by walking. If you do get pulled in mash the X button and pull the analog stick in the direction opposite of where you want to end up. The chests in the back caves contain a Hi-Potion and 900 gil.

When you’re done having fun with the sink holes exit to the left. Follow this new path around and up. You’ll come to a tree stump at the base of the ladder; climb it to reach Cleyra.

Cleyra

Items: Ore, 2 Echo Screens, Ether, Remedy, Phoenix Pinnion, Ghysal Greens, Yellow Scarf.

Upon entry Freya will be greeted and asked to go see the King. The remaining cleric asks you if you’d like a guided tour. This is highly recommended. When that’s done you’ll be returned to the entrance. Now climb up and go to the left. Watch the two ATE’s and then go up to watch another ATE. Now you’ll want to go check on Vivi. Go down and to the right. On this screen go to the far right to pick up an Ore.

Now go up the stairs. Here you’ll find Dan, a Burmecian soldier you met earlier (also the man who harassed Vivi.) He will sell you weapons and armor. When you’re ready go enter the inn behind Dan. You’ll find an upset Vivi here. Search the area to the right of him for an Echo Screen. Now go up the stairs. Search the dresser for an Ether. Then go over to the window and speak with Mopli the moogle. There will be a letter for Zidane from Ruby.

When you’re done at the Inn go to the right from the entrance. At the far right you will find a Remedy. Now go up. In this area go left and you’ll reach a crossroads. Immediately to the left of the bridge you’ve come from is a Phoenix Pinnion. In this area Star Maiden Nina has items to sell. Take the stairs up.

Behind the sign you’ll find some Ghysal Greens. To the right of the buildings is an Echo Screen. Now when you’re ready enter the Cathedral.

Before entering the cathedral you might want to check out the sand pit to the right of the town’s entrance. This is only available before you enter the cathedral. If you do you’ll have a scene with Quina where you can get two extra chests containing a Silk Robe and Magician Shoes.

Be aware that entering the cathedral triggers a series of events leading into a boss battle. To your left upon entering you can pickup a Yellow Scarf. Now speak to the priests. Freya will have left a message for you to wait at the Inn so head back there.

When you get there Dan will let you know that a kid’s being attacked by an “antillon.” Head to the town entrance and go right.

Antillon
HP: 2938 AP: 5
Vulnerability: N/A
Steal Items: Gold Helm, Mythril Vest, Annoyntment Dropped Items: N/A

Before going into this battle equip Desert Boots on any character you can to cut down damage from the Antillon’s regular attacks. Have Freya cast Reis’s Wind to give everyone Regen. This will wear off after a certain amount of time so you’ll have to recast occasionally. Have Vivi cast Fira and Zidane should steal. The boss uses a devastating attack called Sandstorm that will knock your whole party's HP to almost nothing. At this point stop all other plans and throw everyone a hi-potion. After that Regen from Reis's Wind should be able to pull your HP up into the safe zone again. Don't bother with more than a Hi-Potion though because the Antillion will just hit you with Sandstorm again. When Freya's not casting Reis's Wind she should Jump - it hits hard and she might be spared a Sandstorm attack.

After the boss battle you’ll be inside the Cathedral and you’ll get a long scene. After it you’ll have control of Freya for a short time. Go back up to the Cathedral and to the room where Freya danced. Talk to the Cleyran High Priest and you’ll get an Emerald. Stop by the Inn and visit Stiltzkin. Now go to the entrance.

You’ll fight your way down the trunk until you’re stopped by Puck at the wooden bridge. You’ll end up back at the town entrance. Fight off the waves of soldiers and mages. At this point you can go to the right where you fought the antilion and there will be a moogle waiting there for you. He'll have a letter for you.

Eventually Zidane will head up. You’ll meet up with some oracles. Tell them to head right and save their lives. Now go towards the Inn. Tell Dan’s family to go left.

Follow Dan’s family and send them across the bridge to the right. Comfort the kids if you choose. Then Zidane and the survivors will head up the the Cathedral. After a dramatic rescue you’ll meet back up with all the survivors in the Cathedral.

After Beatrix steals the Cleyran jewel you’ll get control of Zidane again. Speak to the survivors and they will give you rewards:

Burmecian Refugee Learie Elixir
Burmecian Kid Jack Nymph Card
Burmecian Kid Adam Zuu Card
Oracle Wylan Ether
Oracle Satrea Phoenix Pinion
Maiden Sharon Remedy
Maiden Shannon Phoenix Down

Mopli’s here and he’ll have a letter for Serino he’d like you to deliver. It’s also a good idea to save. When you’re ready head outside.

Beatrix
HP: 4736 AP: N/A
Vulnerability: Ice
Steal Items: Ice Brand, Thunder Gloves, Phoenix Down Dropped Items: N/A

This is another battle that Beatrix finishes off with Stock Break. Steiner’s Ice Brand is the hardest item to steal. To get it you’ll need to successfully cast slow on Beatrix. This will buy you a bit of time but your chances of stealing everything are slim because of the time limit on this battle. But it doesn't hurt to try - it's the best you can do with your time during the battle. Quina can cast Mighty Guard and Freya can cast Reis’s Wind and White Draw to keep the party’s HP and MP up. Steal with Zidane every round until you get all the items and then, if there's still time, attack with Blizzara and your regular attacks.

After the battle Zidane, Freya, and Vivi stowaway on Brahne’s ship. When you get control of Zidane head up the stairs and go to where Beatrix headed. You’ll overhear plans to kill Dagger. You’ll need to take the launch pods back to Alexandria. On your way back you’ll see Serino the moogle. You have a letter for him so head back and deliver it. He’ll also have a letter for Moodon.
