Lightning - Requiem of the Goddess

Lightning's DLC is two battles you must fight repeatedly. First you fight Caius. This fight will not be won the first time. Instead you must repeat the battle, gaining CP each battle. As you level up you gain access to new roles and become stronger. It isn't enough to defeat Caius - you must beat him with 5 stars. Following that you will fight Chaos Bahamut. If you fail to kill him you will be taken back to the beginning to try again, beginning with the Caius fight. Note that you don't have to beat Chaos Bahamut with 5 stars to complete the DLC.

The combat in this scenario is unique. You are fighting solely with Lightning and you switch between roles, rather than paradigms. These roles are similar to regular roles but have different names. They are: Paladin, Shaman, Mage, Knight, Conjurer, & Sorcerer.

The only way you have to heal yourself is Army of One. However, to maximize HP gained you need to use the Feral Link while Caius is staggered and launched. It is also the most efficient use of the damage it causes. Note that you also have 5 potions and 1 elixer available. However, once you use them you'll have nothing so use them wisely. They do not replenish at any time during the entire scenario.

Boss: Caius Ballad

Caius rotates through 3 roles: Commando, Ravager, & Healer. During Commando he will snap his finger. Immediately switch to Knight and use the Immortality ability. You must be VERY fast with your switching. Luckily, if you get it up in time it will mitigate ALL damage from these powerful attacks. In Ravager he uses powerful attacks but they're not as devastating as the Commando abilities. He doesn't really telegraph these abilities so you kind of have to just take it in stride. As a Healer he first dispels all buffs you have on. He then begins buffing himself as well as healing with Body & Soul. However, he isn't attacking you while he's in this role so you have a bit of a reprieve.

Your first goal is to get Caius staggered as quickly as possible. To start off you need to hit him at least once with a Paladin attack. This role resembles the Commando. You can then alternate between Shaman (physical elemental) and Mage (magic elemental) to fill up the chain gauge and occasionally switch to Paladin to keep the chain from depleting too quickly. Mage will fill fill the gauge faster, but Shaman attacks will maintain better. Note that for all of these roles Lightning will select area attacks occasionally in Auto-Battle so you need to select the solo attacks manually and use the repeat function. Once you have the Conjurer role you can use Mighty Guard for defensive buffs while working on the stagger. Just before staggering use the Conjurer's Aura ability (if you have it) to maximize the damage you do. If you have the sorcerer role you can use the Chaos ability to inflict status ailments on Caius as soon as you have him staggered. Keep Caius launched and if you have Army of One available to you at the same time you should use it.

Once you have 5 stars for this battle you will automatically move into the Bahamut battle.

Boss: Chaos Bahamut

Bahamut follows a similar line in that you can't do much to him until he's staggered. However, he will be pounding you as you raise the chain gauge. Use the same chain gauge raising technique that you used on Caius. Make sure to change to Knight and use Immortality to avoid his Mega-Flare attack. Before the stagger use Aura on yourself and once he's staggered use Chaos. All the debuffs should take and it is possible to defeat him in one stagger.

Upon defeating Bahamut you will acquire the Lightning monster crystal - this is the XIII-2 version of Lightning and she is a Commando. After that sit back and enjoy the cinematics. Note that you need to watch ALL the credits as there is an extra bit after them. Should you want to watch the cinematic again you simply need to beat the battles again - which is VERY easy because upon defeating Bahamut the first time you are automatically raised to Level 10.
