Thextera
Location: 1st Westersand location out of Rabanastre (Galtea Downs) It's smart to wait until you have three party members before tackling the overgrown wolf (although it can be done with just Vaan and Penelo). Your first task needs to be taking out his wolvie friends. More will pop up later but this simplifies things for now. After that it's pretty straightforward - attack, attack, attack. When its HP gets low it uses a powerful Sabre attack so it's good to have your party spread out around the mark (in a triangle pattern) so it doesn't hit too many of your party members. Flowering Cactoid
Location: Yardang Labyrinth - just north of the Outpost If you can you should knock out this mark on your way back from the Barhiem Passage while Basch is still a guest in your party. You might consider clearing the area of most other foes before engaging the mark because, like most cactuars, it runs as you attack it. This way you won't get any unwanted extra monsters hitting you. The mark does come with some cactuar friends but they shouldn't bother you too much. When the mark is an inch from death it will use its 1,000 Needles attack which is almost guaranteed to kill your characters at this point. If you have Quickenings available to you now is a good time to use them. Wraith
Location: Garamsythe Waterway - right outside doors to Sluiceway Controls The hardest part of this battle is the Doom status effect. Make sure you have Remedies and the Remedy Lore 3 license to take out this status effect. Other than that, simply hit the Wraith with a healthy round of Quickenings and a Concurrence to eliminate the mark. Nidhogg
Location: Lhusu Mines - Transitway 1 where the shaft forks Be prepared to remove the Poison status effect. Start with a physical assault. When the mark's HP drops closer to death its speed will increase and its physical defenese raises significantly. At this point you'll need to switch to a magical assault. When its life gets low enough finish the snake off with a Quickening. You'll receive the Great Serpentskin for use in the Desert Patient event. White Mousse
Location: Southwestern corner of Garamsythe Waterway (West Sluice Control) This mark casts some nasty spells that cause multiple status effects and deal loads of damage. You need to immediately cast Berserk on the mark to stop its casting. If you have Decoy you should set your party member with highest defense to take the pounding. If not have one melee fighter and two range fighters. Your rangers should use Fira on the mark. To increase the effectiveness of the spell cast Shear on it a few times. Make good use of the Charge command because this is a heavy magic drain battle. When you take the Broken Key back to Sorbet you'll get the Sluice Gate Key in return - this is important for further marks and sidequests in the Waterway. Ring Wyrm
Location: Westersand - Windtrace Dunes (sandstorm only) If you enter the Westersand by transport stone and go east into Windtrace Dunes you're almost guaranteed a sandstorm. First off, make sure to clear the area of other enemies before engaging the mark. Have a Decoyed character wearing Jackboots. The mark starts out with Protect and Haste so Dispel these as soon as possible. Keep your party in a wide-spread triangle formation. It's also possible to Slow the mark. Early on in the game this is a very long battle. If you're a fan of summoning you might try Belias because he absorbs the Wyrm's fire attacks. Wyvern Lord
Location: Nam-Yensa Sandsea - north end of Simoon Bluff (western edge of sandsea) The Wyvern Lord is a flyer so make sure your party is equipped with ranged weapons. Magick also works well. You might consider equipping Windbreakers to counter the Aero attacks. To supplement your ranged attacks and magick, consider using Knots of Rust - they are great against this mark. Marilith
Location:Zertinian Caverns - bottom right corner in largest are of Invitation to Heresy Enter from the Dalmasca Westersand to get to this room. You need to shut off all gambits and wait in the room for 5 minutes. After that check the rounded niche in the bottom right of the largest area. Your mark should be there. Get your gambits back up. Make sure to have auto Blind and Slow set up against the mark. One character should ONLY be healing. Once you've got the statuses up on the mark it's just a matter of persistent attacking. Return the Serpentwyne Must to the Tavernmaster. Enkelados
Location: Ozmone Plain - The Shred You'll find out from Warrior Hsemu that the mark doesn't like Wu. Go to The Shred in eastern Ozmone Plains and eliminate all the Wu enemies. When you return to the area your mark should be there. If possible you should take on this mark while Larsa is a guest on the way to Bur-Omisace. You can't hit this thing with any status effects but you can Dispel the Protect and Shell it puts on itself. Set up a high defense melee fighter to get in close (possibly Decoyed). Have your other two set up with range weapons to deal range damage and heal. Let Larsa do his thing if you've got him - you don't need to pay too much attention to him. You'll want to avoid the mark's Spinkick attack as much as possible. When you defeat the mark you'll get an Ermonea Leaf. Talk to the petitioner after getting your reward to get the command to take the leaf to Lesina in Giza. Find her in the Dry Season in the Village to get two Remedies.
