Limit Breaks






Level 1:


Braver: A powerful downward slash that can often take out a ShinRa guard in one blow.
Cross Slash: Cloud lunges forward and slices a strange symbol into his enemy which often can cause the status attack STOP.

Level 2:


Blade Beam: Cloud unleashes a single blue beamed attack that fans out and hits all other enemies.
Climhazzard: A running slash where Cloud impales his enemy on his blade and propells himself up, causes moderate damage to one enemy.

Level 3:


Meteorain: Cloud jumps into the air and casts a Meteor spell, an attack which hits several enemies.
Finishing Touch: He swings his sword into the air, summoning a whirlwind that whisks away several enemies.

Level 4:


OMNISLASH: This is Cloud's ultimate limit break. He jumps into the air, slicing relentlessly at his enemy, then he jumps up and delivers a final piercing blow.
HOW TO GET OMNISLASH: Go to the Battle Arena in Gold Saucer and accumulate 32,000 BP (Battle Points) and you can purchase the Omnislash there.





Level 1:


Big Shot: Barret collects a fireball in his gun, and lets it loose wildly on one enemy.
Mindblow: (Somewhat similar to big shot,) He summons yet another ball of energy into his gun arm, fires on the enemy expect the attack drains MP, not HP.

Level 2:


Grenade Bomb: He unleashes a large amount of explosives against groups of enemies.
Hammerblow: This punching attack sends an opponent soaring out into space. (And out of the battle.)

Level 3:


Satellite Beam: Barret calls for a powerful beam from the sky for this particular limit break.
Ungarmax: A barrage of bullets is unloaded from Barret's gun into the group of opponents.

Level 4:


CATASTROPHE: This attack is like a super heated flare, a concentrated beam of energy that is unloaded against all enemies, seemingly ending with an earthquake.
HOW TO GET CATASTROPHE: Go to North Corel and talk to the women in the middle hut on the west side of town. Talk to her. She'll mention her husband, and then finally hand you over the limit break.





All of Tifa's limit breaks are chained together for a string of powerful attacks.

Level 1:


Beat Rush: Tifa runs forward and smacks the enemy with three powerful punches.
Somersault: She places her foot on the enemy, hitting them in the midst of her backflip.

Level 2:


Waterkick: A low sweeping kick that seems like a Water-Elemental attack.
Meteodrive: Tifa delivers a painful drop to her enemy.

Level 3:


Dolphin Blow: Tifa, in this hit, summons a Dolphin to help with this particular move.
Meteo-strike: Grabbing her opponent again, (in a similar move to meteodrive,) Tifa takes her enemy high into the air and slams them down hard onto the ground.

Level 4:


FINAL HEAVEN: Tifa attacks with all her other limit breaks, and all her energy is summoned in this last powerful hit.
HOW TO GET FINAL HEAVEN: (You must have Tifa in your party.) Go to Tifa's House in Nibelhiem and go upstairs to play this song on the piano. You can't get this on the first Disk, but you will get 1 gil for trying. X - Square - Triangle - R1(L1)+Triangle - R1(L1)+Square - X - Square - Triangle - R1(L1)+X - Circle- X - Square - X or: Do-Re-Mi-Ti-La Do-Re-Mi-So-Fa-Do-Re-Do





Level 1:


Healing Wind: Aeris holds her rod close and summons a calming green wind that replenshies allies HP.
Seal Evil: This attack sometimes causes the status effect STOP and SILENCE on the enemy.

Level 2:


Breath of the Earth: This heals your allies of all status ailments. (fury, silence, petrify, etc...)
Fury Brand: Replenishes all parties limit gauges, while draining her own.

Level 3:


Planet Protector: Makes your party invincible for a short amount of time.
Pulse of Life: Replenishes HP and MP, the same as if you used a Megalixer.

Level 4:


GREAT GOSPEL: Heavenly angels come, heals all allies HP and MP, as well as blessing all allies with invincibility.
HOW TO GET GREAT GOSPEL: Go to the man in the cave near the small river by Junon. (You can only get there using the Highwind or a blue chocobo.) Talk to the sleeping man and if the number of battles you've fought ends in the same number, (ex: 599), he'll give you a Mythril.
Then fly to the small peninsula by East of Gongaga, to the 2 story house of the solitary weapons maker. Now talk to the Weapons Seller and go upstairs and to the end of the hall and go to the small box. Once you choose that box, you'll get the Great Gospel.





Level 1:


Sled Fang: Gathering speed, Red charges at his enemy in a running attack.
Lunatic High: Red casts HASTE on the entire party.

Level 2:


Blood Fang: (The same attack base as the Sled Fang,) expect Red gains both HP/MP from the charge.
Stardust Ray: Stars rain down on all opponents.

Level 3:


Howling Moon: In this limit, Red casts both HASTE and BERSERK on himself.
Earth Rave: Red uses an Earth based attack to deal a high amount of damage to all opponents.

Level 4:


COSMO MEMORY: A giant fireball is summoned, causing a heckava lotta damage to all enemies.
HOW TO GET COSMO MEMORY: Open the safe in the ShinRa mansion and defeat Lost Number, then you'll get the limit break.





Cait Sith only has 2 limit breaks.

Level 1:


Dice: Cait throws di to the ground, and whatever the number appears is however much damage is incurred.

Level 2:

(There are 7 slots available for this limit, not unlike Setzer from FF3)
3 Stars: Replenishes all HP/MP, like a Megalixer.
3 Crowns: 6 tiny soldiers appear and attack all the enemies on the field
3 Bars: Cait casts a random summon spell
3 Mogs: Cait transforms into a larger version of himself and smashes down on all opponents
3 Hearts: A girl elf appears and your parties hit percentage is upped to %10
2 Cait Siths + 1 Bar: This means DEATH to all allies.
3 Cait Siths: Instant victory! You automatically win the battle. yay!





Level 1:


Boost Jump: Jumping into the air, Cid comes down onto the enemy for a moderate amount of damage.
Dynamite: Bringing out a stick of dynamite, Cid lights it with his cigarette and tosses it over into the horde of enemies.

Level 2:


Hyper Jump: Jumping into the air, (in an attack similar to Boost Jump,) Cid propells himself down onto his opponents.
Dragon: In this limit, Cid summons a blue dragon which drains his enemy of both HP/MP, which he uses to heal his own HP/MP.

Level 3:


Dragon Dive: A useful limit break in which Cid pounces down on the enemies for six powerful hits.
Big Brawl: Cid attacks with a series of lightning quick moves, a very useful limit against single enemies or grouped opponents.

Level 4:


HIGHWIND: Cid summons the Highwind to drop a messload of missiles down on all enemies.
HOW TO GET HIGHWIND: Once you get in charge of the submarine, find the red sunken submarine Gelnika, go past the save point and fight Reno and Rude to get to the room where Highwind is. The Highwind item is found next to the leaking helicopter.
WARNING: The enemies in the Gelnika are VERY strong and are very dangerous, so take care and have all your party leveled up enough to survive. ^^;;





Level 1:


Greased Lightning: Yuffie gets up close to the enemy and slashes easily, then jumps back and throws her shruiken for the second attack.
Clear Tranquil: Yuffie replenishes her allies HP with a blue energied aura.

Level 2:


Landscaper: She slams her fist into the ground, causing it to rise under the enemy. The ground disappears, causing a lot of damage to the enemies.
Bloodfest: Yuffie delivers a quick series of ten blows to the opponents.

Level 3:


Gauntlet: Yuffie summons a powerful blue energy beam, knocking it into her enemy for a moderate amount of damage.
Doom of the Living: Yuffie lunges forward in a quick series of 15 hits, (an attack not unlike Cloud's Omnislash.)

Level 4:


ALL CREATION: It's a lot like Ultima, delivering a huge amount to damage to all enemies.
HOW TO GET ALL CREATION: Yuffie's last limit break is found in Wutai. She can't get the limit break until she defeats all of the five Pagoda Gods.





During all of Vincent's limit breaks, his HP will raise a bit and you will lose control of him.

Level 1:


GALIAN BEAST: Vincent transforms into a wolf like creature with 2 attacks:
1) Beserk Dance: He preforms a wild series off bites and scratches against the enemy
2) Beast Flare: He launches a series of fire FIRE based orb at the enemy

Level 2:


DEATH GIGAS: Vincent turns into a Frankenstein looking type monster with 2 attacks:
1) Giga Dunk: A one handed powerful smash against the enemies
2) Livewire: A large amount of electricity is blasted against all enemies

Level 3:


HELLMASKER: Vincent changes into a monster (similar to Jason in Friday the 13th) that has 2 attacks:
1) Splattercombo: Vincent messily hits his enemy with a chainsaw, also with a chance of instant death
2) Nightmare: He slaps the enemies with a mess load of status ailments (darkness, fury, sadness, etc...)

Level 4:


CHAOS: Vincent transforms into a winged beast (which somewhat reminds me of Diablos from FF8) that has two attacks:
1) Satan Slam: A giant skull is madly and instantly kills all enemies
2) Chaos Saber: This attack is a lot like slash-all but the attack yeilds a lot more damage.
HOW TO GET CHAOS: (Make sure you have Vincent in your party for this.) Get the submarine go to the waterfall southeast of the village of Nibelhiem. Get out and go towards the waterfall. There inside talk with Lucrecia, then exit come back later. Go inside the cave again and walk where Lucrecia was once standing. There you'll get Chaos and Vincent's most powerful weapon, the Death Penalty.
