Chocobo Treasure HuntingTo unlock Chocobos for quicker travel through the Steppe, Marks 12 - 14 must be completed. The most direct Marks to defeat to unlock those marks are: Mark 01 -> 02 -> 03 -> 05 -> 07 -> 12 -> 13 -> 14. Tips for fighting these Marks are in the Hunt Missions section of Sidequests. Riding Chocobos opens up a lot of treasure spheres and secret areas in the Archylte Steppe. Anywhere a yellow circle is on the ground the chocobo can leap to an area previously inaccessible. Riding a chocobo is restricted to the Steppe and once it has been dismounted it returns to its original location. The Chocobo treasure hunt consists of riding the Chocobo around the Archylte Steppe map until an exclamation appears above the Chocobo. Once this happens the Chocobo will always face the buried treasure making it easier to locate it in the great expanse. The bouncing exclamation is similar to hot and cold. The closer the chocobo is to the buried item the faster it bounces. When you've found the treasure a prompt will appear to allow you to dig. There are twenty buried locations in all on the Steppe and only five of them are randomely generated each time you enter the Steppe. There are two types of treasures to be found. Those treasures that are limited in number since they are simply a reward for number of digs performed and those that are limitless and can be continued to be harvested beyond the reward treasures.
The following table are the rewarded treasures that only appear once once you reach the required dig count.
