Destiny Islands

Day 1:

Kairi will as you to collect some items to help build the raft. You’ll need 2 logs, 1 cloth, and 1 rope. The first log is on the beach.

Then you’ll go up a plank to an area with a waterfall. You’ll want to go up one more level and head to the left until you find the stairs. Go up the stairs and start up the wooden platform. At the end climb the ladder and circle around on the top wooden platform. Enter the treehouse and the cloth should be hanging on the wall to your right.

Jump back down to the area with the stairs and climb the ladder opposite them. Follow the platform around to the area where we first saw Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie. Pick up the rope and take the opportunity to challenge Tidus while you’re here. The trick with Tidus is to jump over him when he lunges and then attack him from behind.

Once you’re done head back to the main area where Wakka and Selphie are. It’s a good idea to challenge these two while you’re here. With Selphie it’s best to just corner her and beat her down. Also, avoid her whip, though it doesn’t cause a great deal of damage. Wakka provides a bit more challenge. First lock on to Wakka, then wait and hit his blitzball back at him, like a baseball. This stuns him and allows you about 4 hits before he recovers. Just because you’re in close doesn’t mean Wakka can’t hurt you - he deals a powerful punch with his fist as well as the blitzball. Ideally you want to level up at least once here.

When you’re done enter the wooden shack and save your game. Then head up the stairs and cross the bridge to the small island. The last log is here, as well as Riku. Again, take the chance to fight him. If you beat him you will win a Potion - you can win up to 99 potions this way. The trick to beating Riku is avoiding his rebound kick attack - the best way to do this is attack until you knock him down and then jump out of the way. Also, don’t fall off the island or you’ll automatically loose.

Once you’re done fighting go back to Kairi and give her the materials. Then call it a day.

Day 2:

Once you get on the island go through the door that Kairi was standing in front of before. You’re going to have to race Riku to a tree with a gold star above it. Before you talk to him take the time to run the course a few times. It’s up to you what method you take, but I recommend this path: run along the wooden path, being careful of the collapsible section. Instead of climbing the tower jump off the low slope to the right and run along the beach. Run up the ramp and hop across the platforms. Tag the star, drop down to the beach, and retrace your path back to the beginning. When you’re ready to start the race talk to Riku. If you win the race you’ll get a Pretty Stone that you can sell in Traverse Town for 30 munny. You can win up to 99 stones this way.

When you’re done with racing go talk to Kairi - she’s standing on the raft underneath the trees you jumped across during the race. She’ll give you a list of provisions to stock the raft: 3 mushrooms, 1 seagull egg, 2 coconuts, 3 fish, and drinking water. She also gives you an empty bottle for the drinking water.

Head over to the boulder that’s near the raft and push it aside. Go inside to get a mushroom. Attack the large round trees to knock down a coconut - you want the yellow ones not the brown ones. Choose a different tree to get the second coconut. Now go to the base of the tower with the ladder. In the bushes you’ll find the second mushroom. While you’re here you can get your first accessory. Pick up the box on the beach side of this area and take it over to the wall. Set it down, jump on it, and climb up into the hole in the wall. Open up the box to get a Protect Chain.

Now head back to the main part of the beach where you found the log yesterday. Go into the water and get the three fish, one is closer to Selphie. Now go into the shack and up the stairs. Climb up the skinny tree until you see the seagull egg in the tree. You’ll want to position your back to the egg then jump off and pull the left analog stick towards you. With a bit of luck you’ll land right on the egg. Now go to the waterfall and fill up your bottle with drinking water. Jump up to the ledge right above the waterfall and enter the secret place. At the end of the tunnel you should find the last mushroom and you’ll be rewarded with a mysterious cutscene.

Now you have the option to fight Selphie, Wakka, and Tidus again. If you beat all three you have the chance to fight the three of them together - if you win you’ll get a Potion. It’s also a good idea to save while you’re here. When you’re done for the day go and talk to Kairi a couple times. She’ll give you a Hi-Potion and let you turn in for the day.

After another cutscene you’ll be back on the island, this time at night. Don’t bother with the shadows right now - you can’t do much damage with a wooden sword. Follow your own suggestion and find Riku. He’s on the little island where he was the first day. At the end of a short scene you’ll get a Keyblade. Don’t worry about what it is, just what it does - you now have the power to smash those shadows. While you’re attacking shadows make your way towards the secret place. There’s now a large, strangely familiar door at the entrance. At the end of the tunnel you’ll have another encounter with Darkside.

Darkside
HP: 300EXP: 60

The strategy for this boss battle is similar to last time - lock on to his hand and attack to kill him. However, you’ll want to run around when Darkside’s new energy ball attack comes. Other than that kill shadows when you need hp balls. But beware - the battle this time is for real and if you loose you’ll be taken to the continue screen.
