Square-Enix on their official FF7AC site has only chosen to specify as characters Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Vincent, Kadaj, Yazoo, Loz, & Sephiroth. However, many other characters have been revealed in various trailers and magazines. We have chosen to provide information on each of these revealed characters. Please note that the information we have provided is going off official notices and conclusions from trailers and images. Some of the information is speculation so please don't count on it being 100% correct.

Since saving the world Cloud, the former mercenary, has been living a quiet life with children in an orphanage. However, emotionally he has been in misery because of the loss of dear ones in the past. In the outside world all is not well. A mysterious trio of hot-headed youths has been preying on a population already tormented by the star-scar syndrome. When this trio threatens the orphanage Cloud is pulled out of his miserable, isolated life. In the trio of silver-haired men Cloud sees something that reminds of the terrible enemy he defeated two years ago.

Although the youngest of the trio of silver-haired brothers, Kadaj is their leader. It is clear that he is leading the trio into opposition of Cloud and Cloud's former crowd. Of the three brothers he bears the most resemblance to Sephiroth. He is also highly skilled with his double edged sword. He is somewhat unstable and has been known to switch quickly between "calmness, brutality, childishness, and intelligence."

Yazoo has been called "aloof and vague". Little is known about him other than that he follows his younger brother, Kadaj, in the fight against Cloud.

The oldest of the three brothers, Loz is actually very childish and a crybaby. However, he makes up for it in his fighting skill. He's incredibly fast.

After the events of FF7 Tifa returned to Seventh Heaven. There she takes care of Marlene and other orphans, including Denzel. When Kadaj and his brothers disrupt life at Seventh Heaven she gets pulled into the fight against them.

After the events of FF7 Barret left Marlene in Tifa's care and headed out into the world to find a replacement for Mako energy. In the past Barret used special made guns to replace his missing arm. However, we've seen that he's turned down guns for an actual working arm and hand. It's uncertain how he will come to join Cloud and Tifa in fighting against Kadaj and his brothers.

Vincent, being not quite human, chose to live away from groups of people. He has been travelling alone, trying to learn more about the world. As a result he knows a few things about the events that are transpiring.

In FF7 Reno worked for ShinRa as a member of the Turks. It's unknown if he is still working for them or just freelancing with Rude. However, we know that they are in opposition to the silver haired men. We've seen him fighting them and we've also seen him conversing with Cloud.

It's certain that Rude is working with Reno, whether for ShinRa or not. We've seen him fighting with Loz but other than that he's been seen mostly with Reno.

It's unknown what Red XIII (Nanaki) did at the conclusion of FF7. It is speculated that he went in search of others of his species and it's believed he found them. We know he will be engaged in the battle against the silver-haired men. However, not much has been seen of him so his role in the movie is uncertain.

It's uncertain what Cid has done in the two years since the events of FF7. However, he will appear to join in the fight against Kadaj and his brothers. We've seen a few clips of Cid and in one of them he is fighting with a group of unidentified creatures.

Yuffie has only just recently been revealed as having a role in the movie. We've seen her in a crowd scene with Tifa and others in the background. We've also seen her parachuting from the sky. We assume that she will join her former comrades in this new fight.

Marlene was adopted by Barret back before the events of FF7. While Barret's away she's been living with Tifa and a group of other orphans. We're not sure what role she'll play but the character designer, Tetsuya Nomura, has hinted that the children will play an important part in the movie.

Denzel is one of the orphans living with Tifa. He is also a friend of Marlene. Not much is known of Denzel but he has been distinguished as a character and not just another orphan.

Aeris is one of those lost that Cloud grieves for in the beginning of the movie. At first she was only shown in flashbacks but we've more recently seen her in scenes that are not clearly flashbacks. One can only speculate as to what role she will have in the movie.

Zack was the SOLDIER that Cloud believed himself to be for the greater part of FF7. He was also the boyfriend of Aeris before Cloud came into her life. Only one image of Zack has been released and it appears to be a flashback of when Zack and Cloud were in the back of a truck.

Sephiroth was Cloud's great enemy in FF7. We had believed him to be defeated but he is listed as a character on Sqare-Enix's official FF7AC site. The only obviously Sephiroth images released for AC are flashbacks but there is a mysterious, shrouded man in a wheelchair that could be Sephiroth. However, this is merely speculation based on Square's inclusion of Sephiroth on the main characters page.
