This quest is available after you've got the Dawn Shard. Before you can do anything else you must complete the "Dalmasca's Desert Bloom" hunt. You then take the Cactus Flower to Dantro's wife at the South Bank Village in the estersand. The little boy, Tchigri, by the ferry explains that his dad is missing so there's nobody to pilot the ferry. The elder of the village then requests that Vaan go with Tchigri across the river to find his dad.

When you get to the North Bank Village you'll find the boy's dad, Ruksel, and discover why he didn't come home. Apparently a large flowering cactoid wants her son, Dran, back. Remember that mark you killed . . .? So, it's back to South Bank. Talk to Dantro's wife and she says she threw the remains of the cactus flower behind her house. Go find the spot marked "Dran?" and check it out. Now return "Dran" to his mother by speaking with Tchigri.

When the quest is over Dantro rewards you with 1,000 gil and Wyrmfire Shot. The ferry is also open for use at any time.
