Cactuar HuntingIn Chapter 3 the Cactuar hunt begins. Travelling the world you must locate the missing children and return them to their mothers but only a few are locatable in this chapter. These are: -Lobivia: in the Oasis at the Bikanel -Tourneya: on the Besaid Beach by the water near the dock -Lobeira: Treasure Room in a chest in Chateau Leblanc -Areq & Arroja: At the foot of Mt. Gagazet in the calm lands by the bridge playing with a chocobo -Islaya: northern part of the Thunder Plains by one of the cactuar stones After Islaya you'll be told by Chiapa's mother that she doesn't want you to fetch him just yet and so your job is done till chapter 5. Chapter 5: -Chiapa: on a tree in the Kilika woods. It'll be along one of the paths to the right. This path is the one that follows up to the bottom of the Temple stairs so if you go there just follow the path south till you see a tree on the right you can climb. -Erio: on the mountain trail of Mt. Gagazet. Just use the teleport pad to go to the Mountain Scar and go up a screen -Bartschella: In Dona's hut in Kilika -Frailea: Inside the Cactuar prison for bad Cactuars When you go after Frailea you'll end up in a Boss fight.
The Jumbo Cactuar himself is quite the pushover really. Focus on getting rid of his little friends with special attacks as they are very good at avoiding attacks. If you killed 10 cactuars (this could also include the buddies he has with him if they are number 10) the Jumbo Cactuar will oversoul and use a lot of higher level magic spells like Flare. Once you return with Frailea and the Cactuars protect Cactuar Nation you've got a new crisis on your hands. The Ancient Fiend is after the Al Bhed and you must jump to their rescue.
The best bet at taking on the Angra Mainyu is to have encounters with it every chapter before chapter 5 and whittle its life down. If not, it will have these stats and will take a good half hour or more to take down. Killing the two arms and keeping them dead is one of the best strategies. This will delay Angra Mainyu's Perdition's flame as it will focus more on reviving its arms than going after you. Best attack to use is the Dark Knight's Darkness. This will drain on your life a bit, but if someone is an alchemist or White Mage healing you constantly then you should get through. Some of the Angra Maiyu's attacks will drain mp so items over White Mage might be your best bet in the end. Also, Angra Mainyu occasionally will cast flare but it will reflect off your characters if you have some kind of reflect spell on. This helps the battle go quicker as well. Having reflect on all of your characters also reduces the damage from the arms completely. |
